TOUR DESCRIPTION
Paris – the city of fashion, perfumes and museums. Rome is one of the most important historical and cultural centres in the world. And finally Vienna, the capital of Austria, the city of waltz, classical music, delicious pastries and wine taverns, waiting to be discovered by you.
Day 1 – Arrival to Paris
After your arrival you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Night in a hotel close to the city centre.
Day 2 – Paris
Discovery City Tour and Montmartre Get ready for an eventful day in Paris! You will be picked up at your hotel to be driven through Paris. You will see all the famous landmarks and monuments like the Concorde Square, Louvre Museum, Seine river and its bridges, French Academy, Hotel de Ville (City Hall), the Latin Quarter with the Sorbonne and the Pantheon, Arch of Triumph, Champs-Elysees Avenue, Invalides with the dome of Napoleon’s Tomb and the Opera House. We also have a photo stop at the one of the most famous monument in the world, the Eiffel Tower. There will be some free time at Cite Island with the Palace of Justice and Notre-Dame Cathedral and a walking tour of Montmartre, near Sacre-Coeur Basilica and the artists square, where you can go exploring on your own. Night in the hotel.
Day 3 – The Louvre
It´s time to skip the line and visit the biggest museum in the world without queuing. Our famous Grand Louvre walking tour begins with a stroll through the commercial area of the Louvre Museum. The visit continues inside the museum where our guide presents various sections such as the medieval fortress, the modern pyramid, the Egyptian department and the most reputed masterpieces such as the “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci. This tour lets you skip the normal lines to the Louvre. Spend more time exploring the museum by avoiding the queue. You are in France so enjoy some wine and cheese for late lunch when you leave the Louvre. The rest of the day is at leisure, we can arrange for you a dinner at the Eiffel Tower, with a Seine cruise, followed by vivacious nightlife at the cabaret at Moulin Rouge (optional tour). Night in the hotel.
Day 4 – Versailles Palace and gardens
Versailles is more than a palace surrounded with beautiful gardens. It also has a huge park where one can discover two lovely castles named Grand and Petit Trianons, former summer residences for the Kings who wanted to rest and forget about the “Etiquette” of the Court. This tour is perfect for travelers who prefer to explore on their own pace. The whole time in Versailles is designated as free time so one can wander the Apartments and the gardens to their heart’s content. An audio guide (with earphones) is provided on the tour. Let´s witness the magnificence of the Versailles Palace, with its dazzling hall of mirrors, exquisite furnishing, superb paintings, and enormous gardens before the marvelous three days in Paris come to an end. Appreciate the grandeur of classical French architecture and extravagant decoration of this former home of kings. Night in the hotel.
Day 5 – Departure from Paris to Rome
Memories of this city will last forever. The last day you can either go shopping, enjoy wine in some of the street restaurants or visit once again the place you liked best. Then we will drive you to the airport so that you catch your flight to Rome. After landing you will be picked up by a driver again and he will take you to your hotel, close to the city centre.
Day 6 – Rome Hop On/Off tour
Witness Michelangelo’s work at the Capitol Square. Visit the oldest part of the city, Forum Romanum and the Colosseum. Hasten to the Spanish Steps at Piazza di Spagna, throw a coin at the Trevi Fountain and admire the afternoon light at the Pantheon. Today you will take the Open Bus Hop-On Hop Off Tour in Rome, which is the best way to explore the city at your own leisure by hopping on and off as you please and see Rome in your own time. The buses make many stops in the most beautiful, cultural and evocative locations in the Eternal city and you get the best picture of the city and do not miss any famous sights. Finally, enjoy Rome by night on the deck of a cruise ship (optional tour). Night in a 3-star hotel close to the city centre.
Day 7 – The Ancient Rome
After breakfast, experience all of Ancient Rome, skipping the lines on this half-day tour which covers the Colosseum Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Your tour will begin atop Colle Oppio (“Opium Hill”) with a panoramic view of the Colosseum. From there we will descend to the Colosseum. Once inside, an expert guide will talk you through the bloody past of the amphitheatre as you listen to tales of gladiators, mock sea-battles and executions. After a brief rest at the Arch of Constantine, you will arrive at the Palatine Hill- the most famous of the 7 hills of Rome. From here you will admire the views of the Roman Forum and Nero’s Circus Maximus where chariot races were once held. Romulus and Remus were said to have been found on the Palatine by the she-wolf who nursed and raised them. Legend holds that Romulus went on to found Rome. The last stop is a walk along the “Via Sacra” or “Sacred Way” which is the main path through the Roman Forum that once sparkled with festivals and triumphal processions. It ends at the Temple which houses the altar where Julius Caesar was cremated. Visitors from around the world still leave flowers and candles at this site today. Night in a 3-star hotel close to the city centre.
Day 8 – The Vatican
Good idea is to spend the last day in Rome in the independent Vatican and to discover its wonders – museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. You will again be granted skip the line ticket. Enjoy a slice of pizza or a plate of spaghetti during a break. Later in the day head on to the Jewish Ghetto for more of history or just relax with a cup of coffee in one of the caffés. Night in a 3-star hotel close to the city centre.
Day 9 – Departure from Rome, arrival to Vienna
Stroll around the streets and buy some souvenirs. If you do not wish to extend your stay in Rome, it´s time to say goodbye and leave Rome today. We will arrange transfer to the airport for you. You fly to Vienna where you will be met by an English speaking driver to be transferred to a hotel close to the city centre. The rest of the day is at leisure. You can either go out into the streets or relax after the flight.
Day 10 – Vienna city tour and Schoenbrunn
You set off in the morning for a half-day city tour which will give you an overall impression of the most significant Vienna sights. You will start the ride on the Ringstrasse, where we show you numerous magnificent buildings, such as the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament, the City Hall, the University, the Votive Church or Urania. The highlight of this tour will be a visit of the impressive Schonbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the Habsburg family. Afternoon program is left at your discretion. Night in a hotel.
Day 11 – Mayerling, dinner and concert
This day expects you a half-day excursion of Vienna Woods. Starting at the romantic City of Baden famous for its thermal springs, you will visit the former hunting lodge (Carmelite Monastery nowadays), where Crown Prince Rudolph died tragically in 1889. Then you move on to the Heiligenkreuz where you will be showed around the medieval abbey and the grave of last the Babenberger. Lastly, you arrive at the gorgeous Seegrotte to enjoy a boat-ride on the largest subterranean lake in Europe. Return to Vienna, to the already known Opera House, is scheduled around the noon whereas afternoon is at your leisure again. You can look forward to a pleasant evening. After a typical Viennese meal you will be taken to a concert. The popular Vienna Mozart-Orchestra in period costumes plays for you many of the everlasting melodies by W. A. Mozart. To save the best for last, you will get a free Mozart-Orchestra CD. Dinner, concert ticket and transfer to the concert are all included. Night in a hotel.
Day 12 – Departure from Vienna
Transfer to the airport and flight to your home country.
